Overview of the most popular dinosaurs

Many species of dinosaurs lived on Earth during the Mesozoic era. The first dinosaur species inhabited the Gondwana supercontinent. The evolutionary very successful group of animals stayed here for about 160 million years, after which the dinosaurs became extinct.
Traditionally, dinosaurs have been ranked among reptiles, but according to current views, scientists consider them extinct ancestors of birds (mainly related to the theropod evolutionary line of dinosaurs).
