Forming European integration from the first ideas to the creation of an associated community.
New relationships in Europe after WW2 was built up through collaboration in key industries (coal, steel). The next steps were to eliminate the customs barriers and create an associated financial market. On the top of these efforts was the launching of a common European currency - the Euro.
As integration progressed, the European Union also continued to grow. First, the original 6 European countries merged, now the Union has 27 members.
In recent years, cooperation between the political and management structures of the European Union and the individual member states has been a great topic.
